When you’re choosing your ice cream flavours, meat is probably the last thing on your mind.
But that’s exactly what was on offer at the UK’s first National Burger Day in Dalston Yard, east London, where visitors indulged in BBQ burger ice cream.
The ‘treat’ came with toppings of candied bacon and dill gherkin ripple.
To make the dairy item even more enticing Suzanna Austin, from ice cream seller Sorbitium, offered her customers another topping of tomato ketchup.
Event organiser Jonathan Pile said: ‘In naming August 27 as National Burger Day and kicking off with this legendary burger ice cream, we are celebrating the ingenuity and versatility of the British burger and giving Britons a chance to lay claim to the burger as a British staple.’
Unsurprisingly new burger flavour hasn’t been well received by everyone.
Twitter user Jess Walker wrote: ‘Clever but no thank you! Burger Flavoured Ice Cream Created For National Burger Day.’
Kudos added: ‘Burger ice cream; whatever next!’
