It has all the making for a classic joke: Seven priests walk into a pub…
Of course the outcome for the men of the cloth who walked into a Cardiff pub recently wasn’t quite a humorous – they were asked to leave.
Why? Because the barman thought they were a bunch a rowdy lads on a stag do.
The seven priests, dressed in the traditional black-and-white attire, headed to The City Arms in the Welsh capital to celebrate two members of the group who were recently ordained as deacons.
In a scene which could be straight out of Father Ted, the barman then explained that they don’t serve stag dos and that they would have to leave, waving away any suggestions that they were real priests.
Thankfully the manager realised the mistake and chased after the holy men, inviting them back in to the pub.
‘By way of apology, he then very graciously provided us with a round of drinks, at which point the group decided to stay, provoking an outburst of applause from the locals casually enjoying a pint,’ one of the group told WalesOnline.
